返回课程 ASD-STE100(简化技术英语)规则部分Rule 3.7 Use an approved verb to describe an action (not a noun or other parts of speech). 规则3.7 使用一个批准的动词来描述一个动作(而不是名词或其他词类)。

If there are different ways to give the same information, use an approved verb to show the action.

Nouns can describe actions in an abstract way, but verbs do this better. It is their function to show actions.

Examples:
Non-STE: The ohmmeter gives an indication of 450 ± 22 ohms.

STE: The ohmmeter shows 450 ± 22 ohms.

Non-STE: Make sure that the 600 Hz tone is audible when the GPW GND ACT switch is pushed.

STE: (a) Push the GPW GND ACT switch.

(b) Make sure that you can hear the 600 Hz tone at the same time.

If a word is not approved as a verb in the dictionary, do not use it as a verb. Use a different construction to give the same information.

Example:
Non-STE: Check the laptop battery.
STE: Do a check of the laptop battery.
