Each task is given aunique MRB number. The first and second digit is the ATA number. The rest ofthe digits denote the MRB sequence number

3. TASK: MSG-3 TASKCATEGORIES
LUB = LUBRICATION -Consumable replenishment by lubricating.
SVC = SERVICING -Consumable replenishment by servicing.
OPC = OPERATIONALCHECK - A failure finding task to determine if an item is fulfilling itsintended purposes. Does not require quantitative tolerances.
VCK = VISUAL CHECK -A visual failure finding task through observation to determine if an item isfulfilling its intended purpose. Does not require
quantitativetolerances.
GVI = INSPECTION -GENERAL VISUAL - A visual examination that will detect obvious unsatisfactoryconditions/discrepancies
FNC = FUNCTIONALCHECK - A quantitative check to determine if one or more functions of an itemperforms within specified limits. A potential failure
finding task.
DVI = INSPECTION -DETAILED - An intensive visual examination of a specified detail, assembly, orinstallation. A potential failure finding task.
RST = RESTORATION -Reworking, replacement of parts or cleaning necessary to return an item to aspecific standard.
DIS = DISCARD - Theremoval from service of an item at a specified life limit.

Task intervals arespecified in terms of a frequency and usage parameter such as flight hours,cycles, and calendar time. Letter checks are not used.
