WHAT IS PEP FOR WINDOWS ?
1. PRESENTATION
The PEP package consists of the AIRBUS Performance Engineers’ Programs for Microsoft
Windows® environment. PEP for WINDOWS provides everything that you need to manage the
programs easily and efficiently. It actually offers several tools devoted to aircraft performance
calculation within a single Windows-like framework.
2. THE PEP PACKAGE
AIRBUS offers several performance calculation tools through the PEP package. These tools are
the same as those previously designed for PCs with DOS environment or for mainframes.
Hereafter are listed these tools with a brief description and the aircraft validity.

THE INTERFACE
1. PURPOSE
A graphical user interface has been designed so as to provide you with highly integrated and
user-friendly framework.
The PEP FOR WINDOWS package consists of an interface common to all performance
calculation programs, which enables the programs to be managed in the same way. This socalled
tool manager interface is described in the following paragraphs.
2. SCREEN DESCRIPTION
The PEP FOR WINDOWS screen features same items and characteristics as all Windows
application. The screen and items are described in the following lines.

This document is the complete user’s guide of the AIRPORT MANAGER program. The AIRPORT
MANAGER has been designed as a PEP for WINDOWS independent tool devoted to airport and
runway data creation and storage.
This document gives description of the user graphical interface and of the data that can be stored
through the AIRPORT MANAGER, the way to create manually or to import data from external
sources, the way to customize the database.
It also provide with some hints to use the AIRPORT MANAGER for performance applications
calculations.
All data provided through the AIRPORT MANAGER are usable in the TLO (Takeoff and Landing
Optimization) and OFP (Operational Flight Path) PEP for WINDOWS components.
The AIRPORT MANAGER is delivered as part of the PEP for WINDOWS package. It can be run
through PEP for WINDOWS interface using the Add-ins menu or AIRPORT MANAGER button
in the tool bar or from the WINDOWS Start Programs Menu.

FOREWORD
This chapter deals with OCTOPUS (Operational and Certified TakeOff and landing Performance
Universal Software) program, which is presented on Windows interface by FM and TLO functions.
This program enables to compute performance under regulatory constraints for a given aircraft and to
optimize takeoff and landing performance for given runways. OCTOPUS is used for computations
related to A318, A319, A320, A321, A330, A340 and A380 aircraft.
You will find information about
– The OCTOPUS functions
– The way to use OCTOPUS on various computer facilities (PC, mainframe or workstation).
– The files needed by the program
– The SCAP module
The installation process and the hardware requirements are described in chapter INSTALLATION.

OCTOPUS and certified calculations
The certified functions of OCTOPUS are the FM (aircraft Flight Manual) calculations and the aircraft file
consultations.
The certified version of OCTOPUS is the PC version. The mainframe and workstation OCTOPUS
version is not certified because it is delivered as source code.
