Pc pressure from the pump unloading rotor is ported through the differential pressure pilot valve to P4 behind the bypass valve plunger. Pc plus the force of the bypass valve spring is not strong enough to overcome Ps pressure, so the bypass valve plunger is pushed to the left. The force required to overcome Pc plus the force of the bypass valve spring is enough so that Ps remains high enough to keep all pressures within the MEC regulating normally until the core engine speed drops to zero. This action is necessary to provide lubrication to the rotating parts of the MEC.
