(1) Select correct size of extracting tool in accordance with Table IV.
(2) Place extracting tool blade into hole so that one side of blade is a quarter turn fromthe end of insert. Strike the head of the tool lightly with a hammer.
(3) Bearing down hard on the handle, turn it slowly counterclockwise, firmlymaintaining spanssure as the insert backs out.
Insert Installation
(1) Install inserts in accordance with Table II and Figure 1, unless otherwise specified on drawing. When installing inserts in dissimilar metal, lightly coat the parent material threads with wet primer. Refer to applicable model finish document for definition of dissimilar metals and specification of primer. When no finish document is available, consult applicable staff unit. See Table IV for installation tool numbers.
(2) Remove tang, if required. See Table IV for tang break-off tools.
