The main gear actuator converts hydraulicpressure into mechanical power for retraction and extension of the main landing gear. The actuator is ahydraulic piston type, with snubbing action to slow movement when limits oftravel are approache The cylinder head end of the actuator is attached to thebeam hanger. The piston rod is attached to a lug on the shock strut. Theactuator and the walking beam are located in the wing outboard of the shockstrut.      
Hydraulic fluid is directed to the headend of the actuator through two flexible hoses. Fluid from one hose flows intothe cylinder head. transfer tube built onto the actuator directs fluid from thesecond hose to the rod end of the cylinder. When the main gear actuator is pressurizedto extend, opposing forces from the actuator and walking beam act to rotate the gear. The gear swingsinboard and up into the wheel well. When the actuator is pressurized toretract, the forces rotate the gear in the opposite direction to extend the gear.

主起落架作动筒将液压压力转换为机械作用力以实现主起落架的收上和放出。作动筒为液压活塞式,并具有阻尼功能,当接近行程极限时会减缓运动速度。作动筒的筒端连接到梁上,活塞杆端连接到减震支柱的接耳上。作动筒和游动梁均位于减震支柱的大翼外侧。液压油通过两根软管引入作动筒端头。其中一路液压油引入作动筒的筒端。作动筒内置的传输管将第二路液压油引入杆端。当主起落架作动筒被增压并伸长作动,来自作动筒和游动梁的反作用力转动起落架。起落架向内并向上收入轮舱。当作动筒被增压并收缩作动,作用力转动起落架相反方向运动以放出起落架。
