A vacancy has arisen for the position of Service Mechanic to work at airline customer locations in China. This is a highly demanding role requiring ability to carry out tasks remotely and often in challenging conditions.
Summary Job specification :
The job involves:
Preparing a wide range of aero engines for operators’ within China which includes:
Requirement to work at a variety of locations often at short notice
Training of operator’s staff
Development of inspection techniques
Working autonomously as well as in a team
Includes work on Rolls Royce lease engines.
All R-R Airlines products including AE3007 and IAE V2500.
Requirements of the job are flexibility, ability to work as part of a team and willingness to undertake any required short or long-term task in China.
Summary person specification :
Applicants must be willing, prepared and able to supervise operator’s personnel. Ability and a willingness to learn IT is also desirable. It is acknowledged a high level of disruption is experienced within this role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship or Chinese equivalent. Chinese University Degree in engineering or equivalent is desirable but not essential. Applicants should have at least 3 years engineering experience and familiarity with the requirements of providing a high quality customer service. Good understanding of English both written and spoken are essential. Also desirable, but not essential, are experience of borescope techniques and dealing with customers. Full product training including on-job-training, where appropriate, will be given.

The Role
Rolls-Royce design, manufacture and supply jet engines to power a broad range of the world’s most modern aircraft. Due to the increasing number of Rolls-Royce powered aircraft in China and the level of Customer Support services being offered, opportunities exist for a Technical Assistants based in Guangzhou.
The successful candidates will work with and support the resident Rolls-Royce Service Representatives based in Guangzhou.
The primary role is the support of the customer’s aero engines and components, including routine reporting of engine experience to Rolls-Royce headquarters in the UK, maintenance & development of engine databases, production of technical reports and the analysis of engineering and commercial trends.
Principal Accountabilities
To provide assistance to the Customer and the Rolls-Royce Customer Service Representatives in provision of support and data.
Have sufficient knowledge and experience to trouble-shoot technical problems on a limited range of engine/installation combinations.
Reporting of engine and component status.
Assist with technical investigations and analysis
Assist in the management of Commercial and Financial issues in line with the agreed contract.
General office administration duties and management of office finances.
Key Skills
Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently, as required. Good numerical skills should be combined with an interest to work in a technical environment. Good PC and data management skills are essential. Candidates should have good English skills.
