SUBJECT: New Boeing Document Consolidation Subscription Service Offering

SUMMARY:
Effective immediately, Boeing is offering a new subscription service for certain aircraft maintenance and repair
document consolidations. Customers who lease or purchase used airplanes may end up with multiple versions of
Boeing customized documentation. The Boeing consolidation service will merge multiple versions of customized
documents into a single version. This reduces the cost related to document purchases and also can reduce potential
confusion by customer engineers and mechanics. In the past, Boeing consolidations were only offered as individual
transactions. Now Boeing is announcing a subscription service for consolidations for durations of between 2 and 5
years. This may be a more cost-effective solution for those customers who are active in making fleet changes related to
leased or used aircraft.

DESCRIPTION:
Boeing produces customized versions of certain aircraft maintenance and repair documents. These customized
documents contain information specific to the applicable aircraft covered by that document. Following are the
applicable customized documents: Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Fault Isolation Manual (FIM), Fault
Reporting Manual (FRM), Baggage Cargo Loading Manual (BCLM), Power Plant Build-up manual (PPBU), Task
Cards, Wiring Diagram Manual and System Schematic Manual (WDM/SSM) and the Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC).
Some customers may end up with multiple versions of each of these documents if they have leased aircraft and/or
purchased used aircraft. This can result in increased document purchase costs as well as cause potential confusion for
the people who need to use those manuals - such as the mechanics and engineers. The Boeing consolidation service
will merge information from multiple document versions into a single version of each.
Product Offerings
As in the past, Boeing will continue to offer individual consolidation service transactions. However, we are pleased to
announce an additional option that may be much more cost-effective for certain customers. Now customers may
purchase a consolidation subscription service - offered in increments of between 2 and 5 years. For the time period of
the subscription service, Boeing will consolidate as many airplanes and documents as the customer requests. The
consolidated document revisions will be delivered according to the normal Boeing document revision schedules (up to
a maximum of 3 document revisions per year). Subscription service is sold based on major/minor model code (for
example, 737-345). Consolidations will be completed for all applicable documents (AMM, FIM, FRM, BCLM, PPBU,
Task Cards, WDM/SSM and IPC) as part of the subscription service (included documents may vary based on aircraft
model).

HAP Operation
  
The HAP is connected to the aircraft’s BRT/DIM/TEST switch. An input from the switch must be 20.5 VDC or more for the HAP to operate in the bright mode and 19 VDC or less to operate in the dim mode. When the switch is in the TEST position, all the HAP LEDs come on. The LEDs stay in on while the switch is in the TEST position. Pushing the TEST key on the HCP also starts a HAP LED test.
  
BITE in the HAP ensures that the HAP is operating correctly. A no fault condition results in a ground on the BITE connection between the HAP and Computer. An open on this line indicates a fault. Fault codes are displayed on the HCP and on the Existing Faults page of the Test Menu.
  
Functional Description
  
The digital HGS Annunciator Panel (HAP) receives ARINC 429 data from the Computer that drives the LED display.
  
The HAP shows these annunciations:
  
    [li]AIII (Green) - shows that the HGS is operating in the AIII mode and that there are no AIII capability or approach monitor faults. It is shown at the same time with the AIII mode annunciation on the Combiner. [/li]
  
    [li]NO AIII (Amber) - shows that there was a loss of AIII capability above 500 feet AGL. The “NO AIII” shows at the same time on the Combiner. [/li]
  
    [li]Flare (Green) - shows that the flare guidance is active in the AIII mode. It is displayed when the flare guidance symbol (“+”) is displayed on the Combiner. [/li]
  
    [li]APCH WARN (Red) - shows that an approach warning has occurred. The “APCH WARN” annunciation flashes for 5 seconds then stays steady on. The “NO AIII” and “APCH WARN” show at the same time on the Combiner. An approach warning occurs below 500 feet AGL if an AIII capability fault occurs or if the approach monitor detects an out of tolerance approach. Approach warnings are recorded in the fault history. This can be viewed using the HGS TEST MENU. [/li]
  
    [li]RO (Green) - shows that the Rollout mode is active. It is displayed at the same time with the “RO” symbol on the Combiner. [/li]
  
    [li]RO ARM (White) - shows that the HGS is capable of providing rollout guidance and that the rollout guidance is armed for automatic activation at touchdown. [/li]
  
    [li]RO CTN (Amber) - shows there is a loss of the rollout guidance capability below 500 feet AGL. It is displayed at the same time with the “RO CTN” symbol on the Combiner. [/li]
  
    [li]TO (Green) - is not currently used. It is displayed only during HAP BITE test. [/li]
  
    [li]TO CTN (Amber) - is not currently used. It is displayed only during HAP BITE test. [/li]
  
    [li]TO WARN (Red) - is not currently used. It is displayed only during HAP BITE test. [/li]
  
    [li]HGS FAIL Pushbutton (Red) - shows that there is an HGS failure while the HGS is in the AIII mode and the aircraft is below 500 feet AGL. When the pushbutton annunciation is turned on, all of the other annunciations are blanked. To turn the annunciation light off, push and release the pushbutton. [/li]
  
If power is applied to the HAP before power is applied to the HGS computer, the “HGS FAIL” annunciation comes on.
  
It is possible for more than one annunciations to be on at the same time. For example, if an aircraft below 500 feet AGL loses AIII capability, “RO CTN” and “APCH WARN” come on. Also “AIII” will always be on when “Flare” is on.
