The primary FMC sends latitude, longitude, and magnetic track data to the
GPWC. The GPWC uses this data in the envelope modulation function. If
the FMC input is invalid, the GPWC uses latitude, longitude and magnetic
track data from the ADIRS.


The GPWC uses latitude, longitude and magnetic track for envelope modulation. Envelope
modulation is different for particular airports, so the aircraft location must be known. The
GPWC can used latitude and longitude from the FMC or from the IRS. The FMC is preferred.
The IRS will automatically be selected if the FMC is not valid.
(a) Loss of latitude and longitude will not cause the INOP light to come on. An FMC error of
this magnitude will appear elsewhere first.
